President Aliyev: Armenian provocation - blow to normalization process

The Armenian provocation is a huge blow to the process of normalizing relations between the two countries, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said speaking at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Samarkand.

According to Report, the head of state said that all the responsibility for the escalation of the situation lies with the military and political leadership of Armenia.

"Azerbaijan presented to Armenia five basic principles of a peace treaty based on mutual recognition of sovereignty and territorial integrity. Now we must start working on a draft peace agreement without preconditions and artificial delays. But unfortunately, on September 13 this year, Armenia committed a large-scale military provocation in the area of the state border with Azerbaijan. The armed forces of Azerbaijan resolutely stopped this provocation. The Armenian provocation is a huge blow to the process of normalizing relations between the two countries," President Aliyev said.
