Ambassador says US ready to expand green energy cooperation with Azerbaijan

Since 1995, the United States has invested $18.7 billion in Azerbaijan's economy, and currently over 200 American companies are operating in the country, US Ambassador Mark Libby said at an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Contract of the Century, Report informs, citing the US Embassy in Baku.

The ambassador noted that there is significant potential for developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the US in the green energy and decarbonization.

"I express gratitude to Azerbaijan for its leadership as the host of the COP29 climate conference and its commitment to transitioning to green energy. As we mark the 30th anniversary of the Contract of the Century, I look forward to new joint achievements in the next chapter of Azerbaijan's energy history and US-Azerbaijani economic partnership," said Libby.

As Azerbaijan is in the process of global energy transition, the country's government has made promising commitments to reduce emissions and has a bold program aimed at "becoming a regional leader in exporting clean energy," the diplomat emphasized.
