Ambassador of Ukraine: 'We appreciate Azerbaijan's support in the issue of mine clearance'

The new Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan, Yuriy Gusev, expressed satisfaction with his first visit to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan and the opportunity to visit Lachin.

In a statement to Report, the ambassador stressed the plans to strengthen cooperation between the cities of Lachin and Irpin.

He noted that major reconstruction projects are being implemented in various regions of Ukraine: "We see Azerbaijan's good experience in restoring liberated territories. In Lachin, we see new buildings, roads, infrastructure, and this is very good, it is truly inspiring."

Noting that Ukraine, like Azerbaijan, suffers from a mine problem, the diplomat said that he had meetings with representatives of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan:

"We have faced a similar problem. Ukraine is currently the most mine-contaminated country in the world, and we have many ideas for cooperation between our countries to implement joint projects aimed at demining our territories. We highly appreciate Azerbaijan's support in this matter and we see an opportunity in developing joint projects and programs for mine clearance."
