Trade in the non-oil-gas sector between Israel and Azerbaijan doubled from 2021 to 2024, Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan George Deek said, Report informs.
"During these years, we increased the value of trade in non-energy sectors from $121 million to $243 million," the diplomat said.
The diplomat emphasized that there has been a rapid increase in the flow of tourists from Israel to Azerbaijan: "This year we expect a record number - nearly 50,000 Israeli tourists to come to Azerbaijan. This figure could double. Currently, AZAL operates 14 flights per week to Israel. This is unprecedented in our tourism history."
Deek also highlighted that energy cooperation between the two countries is actively developing.
"The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has made strategic investments in Israel, acquiring a 10% stake in one of our largest gas fields, Tamar, and together with BP won a tender for gas exploration in Israel's Zone I shelf," he added.
The diplomat also pointed out that Israel's Mekorot water management company is working closely with Azerbaijan's water management agency.
