Hosting COP29 in Azerbaijan is a clear indicator of the country's increasing role on the world stage, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan, Gurbanmammet Elyasov, said at an event in Baku dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.
According to Report, the ambassador noted that one of the main directions of Turkmenistan's foreign policy is the consistent strengthening of relations with Azerbaijan.
"Today, from geopolitical and geoeconomic points of view, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan occupy an important place at the junction of Eurasia, being the main states in the system of transport, communication, and energy corridors. Both countries are implementing significant energy projects, and at the same time, they have made a significant contribution to the fight against climate change and the development of alternative energy sources. I would like to emphasize that hosting COP29 in brotherly Azerbaijan in November this year is clear evidence of its growing role on the world stage," the diplomat noted.
Elyasov added that common roots, language, religious unity, similar culture, and traditions are factors that ensure a high level of relations between the two countries.
