Ali Naghiyev meets with ICMP Director General

On March 10, the Chief of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan and Chairman of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons, Ali Naghiyev, received the Director General of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), Kathryne Bomberger, Report informs, citing the State Security Service.

The parties positively assessed their joint activities aimed at finding Azerbaijani citizens missing due to Armenia's military aggression, following their meeting in April 2022.

Ali Naghiyev provided detailed information about the urgent measures being taken to implement the tasks set before the commission regarding the search for missing Azerbaijani citizens, a matter that remains under the constant attention of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. He also discussed the efforts to identify and exhume graves of missing persons resulting from the Karabakh conflict and to identify the remains of found bodies.

Chief of the State Security Service highlighted that Armenia has shown no intention to cooperate in clarifying the fate of missing persons and continues to demonstrate an unconstructive position.

Additionally, Naghiyev expressed his views on the report prepared by the International Commission on the assessment mission and submitted to the Azerbaijani side. He conveyed his gratitude for the support provided by the organization to the State Commission's work.

Kathryne Bomberger, in turn, emphasized the importance of the report document prepared by the International Commission. She expressed her strong belief that significant progress has been made within the framework of mutual activities with the State Commission and that significant contributions will be made to the future development of inter-commission relations through joint efforts.

Other issues of common interest related to the early clarification of the fate of missing persons were also widely discussed during the meeting.
