Barcelona announced on Friday that Thiago Alcantara would be leaving their coaching staff after a brief month-long stint back at his boyhood club in order to help Hansi Flick adapt to life in Catalonia, Report informs via Football Espana.
He is now set to return to the United Kingdom.
Under-16 coach Arnau Blanco was announced as Thiago’s replacement on the coaching staff, but Flick did leave the door open to the 33-year-old to return. The Spanish midfielder had to retire suddenly this summer due to injury issues and his next step is unsure.
According to Marca, Thiago will now return to Liverpool presumably, as he has to spend the rest of the year in the UK due to tax reasons related to his redundancy at Anfield. Then in January, Thiago will decide whether he wants to return to Flick’s coaching staff. Another option is for him to start coaching courses in order to become a manager in his own right.
Thiago impressed those around him during his time back at Barcelona, and certainly he has had the very best of footballing educations. In addition to working under Pep Guardiola, he has also been with Jurgen Klopp, Flick, and Carlo Ancelotti.
