Sarkhan Hajiyev: Opening of UEFA office in Istanbul marks key step in collaborative efforts

The inauguration of the UEFA office in Istanbul is an integral part of the cooperation between parties for prestigious tournaments to be held in Türkiye, Sarkhan Hajiyev, Executive Vice President of Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA), told Report.

Speaking about his participation in the launch event of UEFA's new office in Türkiye, Hajiyev highlighted that UEFA plans to implement various projects in the country: "The Turkish Football Federation ensured that the event was organized to the highest standards. As you know, Türkiye will host the final matches of the UEFA Europa League in 2026 and the UEFA Conference League in 2027. Furthermore, Türkiye and Italy are set to co-host the European Championship in 2032. These prestigious events will be supported by close collaboration between UEFA and Türkiye, along with various projects aimed at football development in the region. The opening of the Istanbul office was also an integral part of these efforts."

Hajiyev also noted the presence of high-profile figures at the event: "Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the opening ceremony, offering his blessing and wishing success to the office in its future activities. UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin, along with leaders of numerous European and Asian Football Federations, also participated in the ceremony."
