Kazakh president, FIFA head mull development of football in country

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Report informs referring to Kazinform.

During the meeting, issues of increasing the potential of Kazakh football and developing youth sports were discussed.

“I believe that your visit is extremely important in terms of the development of football in Kazakhstan,” Tokayev said.

He noted that more than 1 million people play football in Kazakhstan. There are 17 football centers and 2 academies in the country, where more than 7,000 children are trained.

Infantino said that FIFA is ready to share successful international experience and assist the development of football in Kazakhstan.

“Kazakhstan has become a very important country on a global scale, and not just at the regional level. For FIFA, this is a great partner. We need to work together, because football offers great opportunities for integrating society in this country, as well as for bringing people from other countries together,” noted the head of FIFA.

Infantino visited Tajikistan, and on May 4-5 he will visit Kyrgyzstan.
