Aston Villa has told the representatives of right-back Hector Fort to inform them if he wants to leave Barcelona this summer, Report informs via SportsView.
Manager Unai Emery is open to adding a right-back at the Villa Park club as he prepares for the Europa League this term, and initial talks are ongoing over a potential move for Fort.
The 19-year-old La Masia graduate could leave Barca in the coming days, and a move to the Premier League may be tempting to him.
Fort featured in 20 games across all competitions for the La Liga champions last term after playing ten games in 2023-24.
A sale is now on the cards as his club is struggling to register new players for the new season and will have to move some out.
Villa is monitoring the situation and ready to pounce as they need quality squad depth in their bid to impress across four competitions this season.
The highly talented Spain youth international has enormous potential and is capable of becoming a world-class full-back under the guidance of the Villa boss.
Working with his fellow Spaniard could play a significant role in Fort’s decision if he leaves Barcelona.
Villa will not be the only club interested in Fort, but their involvement in European football could boost their chances of signing him.
They were fined £9.5 million last month for breaching UEFA’s financial rules, and they will not be looking to make big-money signings for the rest of the summer transfer window.
Fort will likely cost less than £10 million, and his resale value could skyrocket in the coming years.
