Volume of cargo traffic on TRACECA up by about 7%

From January through March 2022, the volume of cargo transported on the Azerbaijani part of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia Transport Corridor (TRACECA) was over 10.858 million tons, and the cargo turnover was 2.557 billion ton-km, Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.
According to the committee, these figures show an increase of 6.7% and 6.3%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
During the reported period, 6.115 million tons or 56.3% of the cargo was transported by road, 3.507 million tons or 32.3% by rail, 1.236 million tons or 11.4% by sea.
Meanwhile, transit cargo was responsible for 23.8% or 2,585,300 tons transported through the corridor.
