Deputy minister: GDP per capita in Azerbaijan higher than average of middle-income countries

The gross domestic product (GDP) per capita in Azerbaijan is higher than the average GDP per capita of middle-income countries, Deputy Minister of Economy Samed Bashirli said in Baku during the presentation of the World Bank's annual global World Development Report (WDR) for 2024, Report informs.

"In Azerbaijan, this indicator is at the level of $7,284, which is higher than the GDP per capita of middle-income countries. It is necessary to take stimulating measures for the trade sector in order to diversify the economy. From the industrial development perspective, we use more technologies in industrial zones. Technological development should go hand in hand with human capital development. Technology is not the only condition for increasing productivity. Obtaining technologies from other countries helps us in industrial zones," he noted.
