Number of payment cards grows almost 20% in Azerbaijan

As of January 1 this year, the number of payment cards in Azerbaijan amounted to 11.040 million units, Report informs referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
This is 1.7% higher than the figure for December 1 last year and 19.6% higher than the figure for January 1.
Over the past year, the number of debit cards in the country increased by 81.5% and reached 37.083 million, while the number of credit cards increased by 41.1% to 4.965 million. The volume of turnover on these cards amounted to 4.074 million manats (37.8% more year-on-year) and 278 million manats (37.6% more), respectively.
Last year, the volume of non-cash payments made through cards amounted to 11.172 billion manats. This is 83% more year-on-year.
