Nearly 72% of POS-terminals can accept contactless payments in Azerbaijan

As of January 1, 2022, the number of contactless POS-terminals accounted for 71.8% of total POS-terminals, while this figure was 64.9% as of July 1, 2021, Report mentions, referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
According to the CBA, the number of POS terminals increased by 28.5% last year and amounted to 43,920.
Last year, a positive trend was observed in card infrastructure development. As of January 1, there were 2,970 ATMs (+6.9%) and 61,178 POS-terminals (+6.7%) in the country.
By the end of 2021, the number of payment terminals installed by banks decreased by 4.3% year-on-year to 1,845.
