Mikayil Jabbarov: Economic incentives - main goals of tax policy for upcoming period

The main goals of the tax policy in the coming period are economic incentives, which is observed in the liberated territories, Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov said on February 10 at the conference “Heydar Aliyev and the tax system of Azerbaijan: towards new challenges”, Report informs.

He said that since the beginning of this year, at the instruction and on the initiative by the President, very wide incentives have been adopted in the field of tax, social protection and customs legislation: “Effective tax control is certainly important. We will continue the systematic fight against the shadow economy in diversifying the economy and attracting investments. I think there is no alternative to this and it produces its positive result. We see this clearly in average monthly wages, in the number of permanent jobs, in tax revenues, in everyday life.”

Jabbarov stressed the importance of setting new horizons along with the expansion of digitalization in tax policy: “Here I especially appreciate the synchronization of cooperation between the State Tax Service and the State Customs Service during the last months. This effectively ensures clarity, stability for taxpayers and minimizes the difference between interpretations of the same law by different authorities. On the other hand, it increases the efficiency of the work of both institutions. We will continue to focus on this in 2023. Thus, the participation of the tax policy in the growth and strengthening of the economy and entrepreneurship continues to increase. Improving the quality of the system, making it stable, transparent and competitive is supported by the tax policy.”
