EBRD: Azerbaijan becoming hub for green growth, connectivity

Nataly Mouravidze, head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) operations in Azerbaijan, has highlighted the expansion of partnerships with Azerbaijani financial institutions aimed at strengthening their capacity to lend to local businesses and promote inclusive economic growth, according to the EBRD's quarterly bulletin on Azerbaijan, Report informs.

"At our Annual Meeting in London, we were delighted to host the Azerbaijani delegation for the country’s Investment Outlook session that spotlighted the nation’s growing role as a regional hub for green growth and connectivity. In terms of project signings, we’ve been expanding our partnerships with Azerbaijani financial institutions, boosting their capacity to lend to local businesses and propel inclusive economic growth," she noted.

As of May 31, 2025, the current loan portfolio of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Azerbaijan is estimated at 991 million euros for the implementation of 34 projects.

In total, the EBRD has invested over 3.783 billion euros in Azerbaijan for the implementation of 198 projects. The bank's cumulative disbursements amounted to 3.132 billion euros.

In 2024, the EBRD provided loans to finance eight projects in Azerbaijan for a total of 199 million euros, which is 27.56% (43 million euros) more than in the previous year.
