David Malpass has decided to step down as president of the World Bank before his five-year term expires. He says he will leave at the end of June.
This will be an early resignation that will occur about a year before the official expiration of the term of the 66-year-old Malpass, namely "before the end of the financial year", that is, until June 30, the publication notes, citing a statement by Malpass.
The reason for this decision is not known.
In 2019, Malpas was appointed to his post by then US President Donald Trump.
