CBA updates its forecast for current account balance surplus

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) forecasts that the current account balance surplus will be $4 billion for 2025, and $3.5 billion for 2026, according to the Chairman of the CBA, Taleh Kazimov, Report informs.

Speaking at a press conference dedicated to the decision of the Central Bank regarding the parameters of the interest rate corridor (IRC), Kazimov noted that in January 2025, the CBA had announced that the current account balance surplus would be $5.5 billion in 2025.

"Despite quite a lot of uncertainties in the global environment in the last few months, our forecast regarding the surplus is positive," he added.

In 2024, Azerbaijan's current account balance surplus was $4.7 billion, or 6.3% of the gross domestic product (GDP). This is 43.3% less compared to 2023.
