"The interest rate decisions of the US Federal Reserve System (FED) are important for Azerbaijan in terms of limiting import inflation," said Executive Director of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Vugar Ahmadov, Report informs.
"These interest rate decisions will certainly not lead to foreign currency inflows for our economy. On the contrary, in the six months of this year, we see a surplus exceeding $12 billion in the trade balance. Even if we look at the figures for the first quarter, we will see a significant surplus in the current account of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is one of the few countries whose current account surplus exceeds 20% of GDP," he noted.
