Azerbaijan’s securities market declines by 26% 

From January through September 2022, transactions worth 9.434 billion manats ($5.55 billion) were carried out in the securities market of Azerbaijan, 25.7% less than last year, Report informs, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

Of this, 5.030 billion manats ($2.96 billion) were formed in the primary market -(19.7%), and 4.404 billion manats ($2.59 billion) were formed in the secondary market (-31.7%).

Some 6,596 (-26.1%) deals were concluded in the securities market during the reporting period, with the primary market accounting for 1,172 deals (-16.9%) and the secondary market for 424 (-27.8%).

Government securities dropped 20.9% to 4.908 billion manats ($2.89 billion) or 52% of transactions carried out in January-September 2022, corporate securities fell by 3.5% to 1.043 billion manats ($0.61 billion) or 11.1%, and repo operations slipped 35.6% to 3.482 billion manats ($2.05 billion) or 36.9%.

Over the past nine months, 1,356 or 20.6% of the deals were concluded on government securities, 3,325 or 50.4% on corporate securities, and 1,915 or 29% on repo operations. These figures are 24%, 15.8%, and 39.9%, respectively, less than a year ago.
