Azerbaijan's current account surplus rose nearly 46% in 1Q2026

In the first quarter of 2026, Azerbaijan's current account surplus amounted to $1.664 billion, marking a 45.6% increase year-on-year (YoY), Report informs, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
It was noted that the quarterly surplus was formed through a foreign trade balance surplus of nearly $2.039 billion (down 16.6% YoY), a services balance deficit of $590.3 million (down 21.6% YoY), a primary income balance surplus of $37.6 million (compared to a deficit a year earlier), and a secondary income balance surplus of $177.8 million (up 66.95% YoY).
