Azerbaijan more than triples surplus in current account

In January-June 2021, the surplus in the current account of Azerbaijan amounted to $1,878.4 million, up 3.1-fold from a year earlier, Report informs, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
The surplus was formed by a $3,518.9 million gap in external trade balance, $1,300.5 million gap in services balance, 558.4 million gap in primary income, and $218.4 million gap in secondary income.
Year-on-year, the current account surplus in the oil and gas sector increased by 40.7% to $4.6 billion, while the gap in the non-oil sector grew by 1.8% to $2.7 billion.
