The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is holding a two-day international conference, "Future Synergies between Climate and Development: An International Conference of the Global Think Tanks Cooperation Initiative", in Bangkok, Thailand, Report informs referring to the ADB.
The event will be held on March 20-21 and is aimed at developing collective solutions for a sustainable transition to a green economy, taking into account the developments presented by the ADB institution at COP29.
The program will delve into the unique challenges faced by developing countries grappling with intensifying climate risks. Featuring case studies from Bhutan, the Amazon, Thailand, and Indonesia, the conference will highlight innovative programs and mechanisms spearheaded by multilateral development banks (MDBs) and other regional and international organizations to protect ecosystems and enhance resilience.
By bringing together leaders from global think tanks, international financial institutions, philanthropic organizations, and governments, the conference will facilitate knowledge sharing, technology transfer, and skill development across regions. Emphasizing the importance of cross-sectoral and interregional collaboration, the event aims to accelerate climate action and sustainable development for all.
The key objectives of the conference include facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experience across regions to accelerate sustainable transition in climate-vulnerable countries; strengthening collaboration between global think tanks in supporting climate initiatives; and developing research-policy linkages to translate scientific evidence into practical solutions.
The conference is expected to build trust between think tanks, policymakers and researchers, deepen understanding of vulnerable countries’ perspectives, enhance international cooperation and enhance the role of think tanks in policymaking and diplomacy.
The event will be an important platform to discuss a sustainable future, exchange ideas, find partners and work together to address global climate challenges ahead of COP30.
