US official: SGC is important for Europe's energy security

The Caspian region is of particular importance for ensuring energy security, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy in the Bureau of Energy Resources Laura Lochman said at a conference within the Baku Energy Forum, Report informs.
Lochman stressed the importance of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) for Europe's energy security.
At the same time, she stated the importance of the transition to green energy:
"We support the European Union in measures to reduce dependence on hydrocarbon raw materials. Azerbaijan is also aiming to transition to green energy," Lochman said.
She noted the vast opportunities for the development of wind energy in the Caspian Sea.
