Kazakhstan's climate agenda incorporates regional cooperation priorities, pragmatic ambitions, and international interaction, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at the opening of the International Climate Forum within the EU - Central Asia summit, Report's correspondent from Samarkand informs.
He noted that the country contributes to global efforts to support countries vulnerable to the climate crisis and considers the green transition as a strategic priority.
"Renewable energy occupies a central place in our strategy. We are implementing one of the world's largest projects for the production of green hydrogen. In partnership with leading global corporations, we have launched wind and solar energy production projects. Kazakhstan produces about 40% of the world's uranium. This is an important contribution, considering that almost 10% of the world's electricity is generated by nuclear power plants. Kazakhstan is now planning to build its first nuclear power plant to reduce emissions and enhance its energy security," he added.
