SOCAR sets new drilling record

The Complex Drilling Works Trust of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has broken its drilling record, set in 2025, Report informs.
The sidetrack well drilled by the trust, well No. 28a, at the West Absheron field, has been registered as the longest horizontal open-hole well (522 meters) in SOCAR's history to date.
The drilling was carried out by Complex Drilling Works Trust on behalf of SOCAR's Azneft Production Union.
The previous record (515 meters) was recorded at the end of 2025 in well No. 25a, drilled at the same field. This marks the Complex Drilling Works Trust's new record.
The West Absheron field is being developed by the Absheronneft Oil and Gas Production Department of Azneft Production Union.
