SOCAR-owned terminal to double its transportation capacity next year

The Kulevi terminal of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will double its transportation capacity by the end of 2024, director of the terminal Ilgar Alizada told Argus Media, Report informs.
According to him, it is planned to increase the volume of cargo transportation of Kulevi terminal to 4 million tons by the end of next year.
The management of the terminal expects an increase in the transit of goods from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Russia by railway through the territory of Azerbaijan and Georgia.
The Kulevi terminal, which has a project capacity of 10 million tons per year, increased the transportation of oil products and petrochemical cargoes by 30% in January-May 2023 compared to the corresponding period of last year. Mostly batches of Azerbaijani oil products and petrochemical cargoes produced by SOCAR at its facilities are delivered through the complex.
The volume of oil products from Central Asia is also significant. Thus, the terminal provides transit of up to 40,000-50,000 tons of Turkmen oil products, including diesel fuel, gasoline and fuel oil, and 20,000-30,000tons of Kazakh products per month.
