Shahin Mustafayev: 2 projects for construction of power plants in Karabakh submitted to Russia

The Russian side was provided with preliminary information on two projects to operate in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev told a meeting of the Azerbaijan-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Baku, Report informs.

"These projects envisage the construction of a 100-megawatt wind farm in Lachin and Kalbajar districts, as well as small hydropower plants with a total capacity of 20 megawatts on the Tatar River," Mustafayev noted.

According to him, the mutual electricity supply between the two countries is stable:

"Prospective cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources continues. Azerbaijan is actively working in this area. Karabakh and East Zangazur have great potential in terms of renewable energy sources."

The deputy prime minister said that the preparation of regulations on establishing the North-South international energy corridor between Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran is underway.

He noted that many energy companies such as Gazprom, Transneft and Lukoil are successfully operating in Azerbaijan: "Lukoil has expanded Azerbaijan's participation in the Shah Deniz project, as well as agreed to participate in negotiations on the Dostlug field in the Caspian Sea."

According to him, reciprocal natural gas supply under SVOP agreements between Azerbaijan and Russia also continues.
