Bulgaria has partially solved its gas supply problem thanks to Azerbaijan, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said in an interview with local media, Report informs.
Radev highlighted Azerbaijan's significant role in Bulgaria's gas supplies, noting, "Bulgaria has partially solved its gas import problem by increasing supplies from Azerbaijan. However, we still continue to receive Russian gas through swap operations or intermediaries."
He also mentioned that Bulgaria currently does not import liquefied natural gas.
In 2024, Azerbaijan supplied 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Bulgaria, a substantial increase from the 1.25 billion cubic meters supplied in 2023. Bulgaria's annual gas demand exceeds 3 billion cubic meters.
