Regis Agut: ICP launch at Absheron field scheduled for next year

The first part which is the Absheron IPC project early production system is under construction and making good progress and is expected to start in the first half of 2023, Total Executive Director for Azerbaijan Regis Agut told Report.

“For the next phase of what we call the Absheron phase 1 which will be up to 4 to 5 bcm production is under study. Conceptual study work is currently undergoing. Several options are on the table. The basic plan is to have the further expansion of production Absheron field going to the export market, but these are still under the discussion and depend on the expansion of the capacity of the Southern Gas Corridor,” he noted.

The Absheron field is being developed by the Joint Absheron Petroleum Operating Company (JOCAP), established by SOCAR Absheron (50%) and TOTAL E&P Absheron (50%).

On November 21, 2016, SOCAR and Total signed an agreement on determining the main contractual and commercial terms of the first stage of the development of the Absheron gas condensate field.

The contract was signed for a period of 30 years. The contract area is 747 sq. km.

The Absheron block is located 100 km from Baku at a depth of 500 meters. The field’s reserves are estimated at 350 billion cubic meters of gas and 45 million tons of condensate.
