Over 10M MWh of gas transported since IGB launch

Over 10.4 million MWh have been transported through the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnector since the launch of the pipeline on October 1, 2022, Report informs referring to ICGB operator company.
“The amount equals to 892 million cubic meters and covers the period from the beginning of October to the end of April. As of the end of April, IGB has a total of 16 registered users,” reads the report.
IGB provides for the transportation of gas to Bulgaria produced within the second phase of operation of the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. The state company Bulgargaz EAD signed a contract with the Shah Deniz consortium for the supply of 1 billion cubic meters of gas from the Shah Deniz-2 field. Azerbaijani natural gas will be able to meet 25-30% of Bulgaria’s needs.
Some 150 kilometers of the IGB pipeline with a total length of 182 kilometers run through the territory of Bulgaria. The annual capacity of this line is 3-5 billion cubic meters.
