Muhammad AbuLaban: Hydrogen has potential to become geopolitical advantage for Azerbaijan

Hydrogen has potential to become a geopolitical advantage for Azerbaijan, Muhammad AbuLaban, Team Leader of the Green Hydrogen Division at International Association of Hydrogen Energy, told Report.

He believes that by diversifying energy sources away from fossil fuels, reliance on geopolitically volatile regions can decrease and this could contribute to greater energy security and stability.

AbuLaban noted that by developing alternative energy sources such as solar, wind and hydroelectric energy sources, Azerbaijan will reduce its dependence on the only source of income and way of generating power.

According to him, Europe sets ambitious goals in the sphere of green energy but is not so rich in renewables, including for production of 'green' hydrogen which it needs so much.
