The transmission capacity of the pipeline transporting natural gas to Turkiye will be doubled in the coming period, Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank said at the meeting of the Turkiye-Hungary Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) held at Hungary's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
He said that Turkiye is taking important steps toward becoming an energy hub:
"Preparations for the construction of a new energy terminal in Thrace in Turkiye are nearing completion. Natural gas will start flowing into our country from here. We recently discovered a new large gas field in the Black Sea. We will continue to share our potential and strength with friendly and allied countries. We will continue our relations with Hungary closely."
The Hungarian minister of foreign affairs and trade said some steps are being taken to diversify the energy supply of his country: "In addition to Azerbaijani gas, it is planned to bring liquefied natural gas to Hungary through Turkish ports."
