Mehmet Yuce: Implementing Türkiye's green energy experience could yield significant results in Karabakh

The implementation of Türkiye's experience in wind and solar energy in the Karabakh region, Azerbaijan, could yield significant results in terms of sustainable energy supply for that area, said Mehmet Yuce, lecturer at Türkiye's Uludag University and Deputy Chairman of the Environmental Agency, Report informs.

He made the remark during his speech at the International Turkic World Economic Conference themed "Common Future: Socio-Economic Innovations" held in Baku.

According to Yuce, cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in the energy sector is not limited to the transmission of energy resources, but also includes the application of green technologies and reducing environmental impacts.

The official further stated that as part of agreements signed between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, the development of renewable energy sources in Karabakh is one of the priority directions: "Karabakh has great potential, especially in terms of solar and wind energy. Türkiye's experience in this field can contribute to the proper and efficient use of these opportunities."

He added that the concept of gray trade covers energy trade that creates carbon emissions but cannot be completely stopped: "Industrial production, economic development, and social welfare are not possible without energy. Therefore, it is not possible to completely abandon energy trade. The main goal is to organize these processes in a more environmentally responsible manner."

Yuce also pointed out that the materials used in building energy infrastructure also leave a certain carbon footprint: "Therefore, the application of technological innovations in the energy sector, increasing the share of 'green energy' resources, and benefiting from international experience are of particular importance."
