Italy's oil imports from Azerbaijan exceed 4 million tons

In January–May 2025, Italy imported 4,075,672 tons of oil from Azerbaijan, which is 9.5% higher than in the same period last year.

Report informs, citing data from Italy’s Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, that during the reporting period, Italy received 1,064,461 tons of Azeri Blend crude (a twofold decrease) and 3,011,211 tons of Azeri Light crude (a 1.9-fold increase).

Azeri Blend was purchased by Italy at $73.34 per barrel (compared to $90.02 per barrel in January–May 2024), while Azeri Light was bought at $74.37 per barrel ($90.62 previously).

Azerbaijan accounted for 16.95% of Italy’s total oil imports in January–May 2025.

In 2024, Italy imported 9.3 million tons of oil from Azerbaijan (a 17.7% decrease), accounting for 16.4% of Italy’s total oil imports last year.
