Italy emerges as leading buyer of Azerbaijani gas in January 2025

In January 2025, Italy emerged as the top buyer of Azerbaijani gas, accounting for 38.1% of Azerbaijan's total gas exports.
According to Report, which cites the State Statistics Committee, Azerbaijan exported 2.34 billion cubic meters of gas during the reporting period, a 21.1% increase compared to the previous year. The total value of these exports reached $870 million, reflecting a 17.6% rise. Gas deliveries were made to six countries: Italy, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia, Türkiye, and Georgia.
The top three buyers of Azerbaijani gas in January were Italy, Türkiye, and Georgia.
Italy led in imports with 891.32 million cubic meters (+27.2%) valued at $457.53 million (+28%).
Türkiye ranked second, accounting for 37.4% of Azerbaijani gas exports. The country received 875.81 million cubic meters (+4.5%) worth $253.3 million (-0.5%).
Georgia secured third place, importing 296.28 million cubic meters (1.9x growth) valued at $37.09 million (+42.5%).
