IAEA notes danger of power outages at Zaporizhzhia nuke plant

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has noted that frequent power outages at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant remain a hazard for the operation of the station, Report informs referring to TASS.

“Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has lost contact with its last backup external power line, once again highlighting the precarious nuclear safety situation at the plant. Frequent power outages remain a source of serious concern for the nuclear safety of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, as it needs electricity to cool its reactors and other important functions, even when all reactor units are shut down,” Director-General Rafael Grossi said.
