Gas production from Azerbaijan’s Absheron field almost doubled in 2024

In 2024, 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas were produced from the Absheron field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, marking an increase of 0.8 billion cubic meters or 1.9 times year-on-year (YoY), Report informs, referring to Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry.
Overall, 50.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced in Azerbaijan in 2024, which is 2 billion cubic meters or 4.1% more compared to 2023. Of that, 13.3 billion cubic meters came from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field block, and 27.8 billion cubic meters from the Shah Deniz field.
Compared to 2023, gas production from ACG grew by 0.4 billion cubic meters or 3.1%, and from Shah Deniz rose by 1.6 billion cubic meters or 6.1%.
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) produced 7.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas last year, 0.7 billion cubic meters or 8.3% less YoY.
