Europe increased its liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports by 43% year-on-year in July 2025, reaching 9.08 million tonnes, Report informs, citing the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
“In July 2025, LNG imports to Europe continued to grow, rising by 43% (2.75 million tonnes) compared to the previous year, and totaling 9.08 million tonnes,” the GECF states.
The increase is attributed to rising demand for gas injection into underground storage facilities, alongside a decline in pipeline gas imports.
The largest growth in LNG imports was observed in the Netherlands, followed by France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The combined rise in these countries offset a decline in imports to Türkiye.
