EU energy ministers fail to agree on limiting Russian gas prices

EU energy ministers did not agree on a price cap for Russian pipeline gas, instructing the European Commission to study the possibility of imposing restrictions on all types of gas, including liquefied natural gas (LNG), European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson said, Report informs, citing TASS.

The ministers instructed the European Commission to study the possibility of limiting the price of all types of gas received in the EU, Simson said.

But the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said earlier that she supports limiting the price of Russian gas specifically, Simson noted adding that all options remain on the table and that next week the European Commission will present new proposals to combat the energy crisis.
