Erdogan says Turkiye, Azerbaijan attach importance to expansion of SGC

As in any field, our cooperation with Azerbaijan in energy is of strategic importance for our countries and regions, Report informs, citing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's letter to the participants of a special session of the Baku Energy Week in Shusha on June 4.

"We have made a vital contribution to local and global energy security by implementing mega-infrastructure projects such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, and TANAP. The Southern Gas Corridor (SGC), currently the backbone of TANAP, is Europe's fourth natural gas artery. 15 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been transported to Turkiye and 10 billion cubic meters to other European countries via the Southern Gas Corridor. We attach importance to the expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor, as we emphasized in the Shusha Declaration, which raised our relations with my brother Ilham Aliyev to an alliance level. The current progress in the international arena shows how precise our steps are. The vital importance of Turkish-Azerbaijani cooperation for Europe's energy security is now better understood. Under the leadership of my brother Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan's vision in the field of renewable energy is a guide in terms of regional stability and prosperity. From this point of view, declaring Karabakh and East Zangazur a "green energy zone" is an extremely precise step. I wish success to the Baku Energy Week organized at a time when the importance of energy and energy security is growing, and I sincerely greet all participants," the letter reads.
