Romanian citizens want their household energy costs to be as low as possible, Romania's Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja told Baku TV, Report informs.
Burduja mentioned that people have clear and straightforward expectations: "They express this every day—they call, write emails, and appear on television, stating that they want their household energy costs to be as low as possible. Our private sector also desires lower energy prices, as this is crucial for the competitiveness of many industrial enterprises. However, one non-negotiable aspect is energy security—people want their lights to work at home at any time."
The minister added that Azerbaijan and Romania are at similar stages in their energy transition: "Both countries rely somewhat on fossil fuels for energy production. However, both are investing in the green transition. Romania has signed contracts or initiated projects for 10,000 megawatts of solar and wind energy production, and Azerbaijan has similarly ambitious plans. Through the green corridor, both nations will benefit from more green energy. Ultimately, we will present the benefits of this partnership to our people."
He concluded by emphasizing that the main advantages of the partnership between the two countries will be energy security, energy competitiveness, and an increase in green energy in the long term.
