BTC pipeline maintenance costs exceed $88 million in first half of 2024

The maintenance costs for the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline reached $88.2 million in the first half of 2024, marking a 14.5% increase compared to the same period last year, according to BTC Co, the operator responsible for the construction and operation of the pipeline.

According to Report, the breakdown of expenses reveals that operational costs for the BTC pipeline amounted to $70.5 million, a significant 19.5% increase, while capital expenditures stood at $17.7 million, showing a slight decrease of 1.7%.

BTC Co announced that the volume of oil and gas condensate pumped through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline in January-June 2024 amounted to 14 million tons (approximately 110 million barrels), which is 6.7% lower than the same period in 2023.

150 tankers were loaded from the port of Ceyhan in the first six months.

Overall, since the pipeline was put into operation (June 4, 2006) until the end of June 2024, over 576 million tons of oil (over 4.3 billion barrels) have been delivered to world markets via the BTC, and 5,707 tankers have been loaded from the port of Ceyhan during this period.
