BP, the technical operator of the Shah Deniz project, has announced that it will reduce gas production at the field from August 5 to August 9.
The decision comes in light of planned maintenance work on the export gas pipelines connected to the field.
Tamam Bayatli, the Public Relations Manager at BP-Azerbaijan, told Report that from August 5 to August 9, gas production at the Shah Deniz field will be reduced to the required level due to scheduled maintenance work on the export gas pipelines.
The Turkish company BOTAS reported that due to the repair and maintenance work on the infrastructure for exporting gas from the Shah Deniz field, the supply of natural gas to Türkiye's national gas distribution network will be suspended for five gas days from July 31 to August 5 at the Turkgozu entry point and for four gas days from August 5 to August 9 at the TANAP Seitgazi entry point.
TAP AG, the operator of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, also announced that maintenance work is scheduled along the upper section of the Southern Gas Corridor from August 5 to August 9, 2024. Although TAP's transport systems and capacities will remain fully available, the gas flows entering TAP at the Kipoi interconnection point will be reduced, potentially affecting gas deliveries at all interconnection points with gas transmission systems (Komotini, Nea Mesimvria, and Melendugno).
TAP has informed the operators of the neighboring countries' gas distribution systems and issued an urgent message to inform the European market. The company expects normal service to resume after the completion of these planned maintenance works.
