BCG executive director says 'important' to continue Azerbaijan's goals set for COP29

Anton Kosach, Executive Director and Partner at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), emphasized the importance of sustaining the ambitious goals set by Azerbaijan during its hosting of COP29, in remarks made to journalists, according to Report.

Highlighting the significance of 2025, Kosach noted that this year marks the transition of COP hosting from Azerbaijan to Brazil. He pointed to the Baku Energy Week as a key indicator of global progress and direction in energy transition efforts. Despite various challenges, the shift towards cleaner energy continues to advance.

“I am proud that this significant event has a strong focus on energy transition and green initiatives—topics that were scarcely on the agenda just a few years ago,” he said. Kosach stressed that the accelerating pace of discussions makes it crucial to persist in implementing the bold objectives introduced by Azerbaijan at COP29.

He noted that the company sees good progress in the Azerbaijani business and private companies investing in the country:

"They are developing infrastructure projects, renewable energy projects. For example, those companies are moving to advanced solutions like biomethane and other green solutions that are important for this market. So I believe that this forum brings together the most talented people, regulators, businesses and is the ideal discussion that helps us be more pragmatic in what we do and helps us move from COP29 to COP30, from bold ambition to active implementation."
