Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said in an interview with Report that Türkiye is interested in launching the Zangazur Corridor, including its energy component.
"We really want this line (Zangazur Corridor) to be implemented, both from an energy perspective (supplies) and other aspects. That's because it is very important for us. It is very important for Europe. Therefore, I hope that this project will be implemented," said Bayraktar.
He also addressed the issue of combating climate change.
"We are currently at a climate conference dedicated to green transformation. Everyone is talking about climate change. The most important thing we will do is expand communications (interconnectors) between countries and regions. The most important of these connections is the Caspian Sea with its huge wind energy potential. If I'm not mistaken, according to the World Bank, this potential is 7,500 MW," said the minister.
He pointed out the scale of the project, which involves supplying large volumes of green energy to Türkiye and further through this corridor to Europe.
"We are working on this direction. In addition, there is also high solar energy potential in Nakhchivan. We are working on supplying this solar electricity to Türkiye," said the minister.
