The Khankandi city and other liberated territories are Azerbaijan’s sovereign territory and have always been Azerbaijani lands. Work on the creation of gas or other infrastructure in these territories can be carried out only by the Azerbaijani state, Teymur Jafarov, head of the New Gas Supply and Development Department of the Azerigaz Production Association of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), said at an event for media and NGOs, Report informs.
He noted that the Karabakh economic zone, including the city of Khankandi, was supplied with gas by the Azerbaijani state in the 1980s: "Gas infrastructure was created there. During the subsequent Armenian occupation, most of the communications were destroyed and looted by the Armenians."
Jafarov said that the Azerigaz Production Association carried out repair work on the gas pipeline in Khankandi: "Currently, Khankandi is supplied with natural gas. It is planned that at subsequent stages the gas infrastructure of these regions will be completely replaced and brought into line with modern requirements. Azerbaijani citizens will enjoy the benefits of the infrastructure to be built in these areas."
