Azerbaijan supplied about 4 bcm of gas to Italy in January-May

Gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Italy via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) totaled 3.923 billion cubic meters in January-May 2025, down 8.8% compared to the same period in 2024.

According to Report, citing data from Italy’s Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, the country imported a total of 29.201 bcm of natural gas during the first five months of 2025, an increase of 5.7% year-on-year.

Azerbaijan accounted for 14.3% of Italy’s total gas imports in this period.

In May alone, Azerbaijan supplied 801 million cubic meters of gas to Italy, down 9.9% compared to May 2024, representing 23.9% of Italy’s total gas imports for the month.

As reported, in 2024 gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Italy via TAP amounted to 10.315 bcm (an increase of 3.3%), making up 16.7% of total imports.

Azerbaijan began exporting gas to Europe on December 31, 2020.
