The green corridor project “Caspian-Black Sea-Europe” (Black sea energy cable) has good prospects, since there is a demand for such a cable and it will grow, Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Orkhan Zeynalov said at the Baku Energy Forum, Report informs.
“This project is designed, as is known, to supply offshore wind energy generated in the Caspian Sea to Europe via a power cable. There is a great need for laying such a cable, there is demand and it will grow. Taking into account the high potential of the Caspian Sea in wind energy, the implementation of this project has all the components - sources of clean energy and demand,” Zeynalov said.
He noted that in parallel, Azerbaijan is developing cooperation with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on the implementation of a project for the export of green energy from the Central Asian region to Europe.
“Central Asia has high potential for wind energy production, so the implementation of such a project will be of great importance for all its participants,” he said.
Zeynalov also expressed the opinion that when implementing energy transition measures, traditional types of fuel should not be left aside.
“The energy transition must be gradual and balanced. That is, a balance must be maintained between traditional fuel and renewable energy sources,” he noted.
