Azerbaijan reveals data on gas production at Absheron field in H12024

The JOCAP (Joint Operating Company of Absheron Petroleum B.V.) operating company produced 800 million cubic meters of gas at the Absheron gas-condensate field in the Caspian Sea in the first six months of 2024, Report informs, referring to Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry.

According to the ministry, 800 million cubic meters of natural gas and 300,000 tons of condensate were produced at the Absheron field in the first half of the current year.

The Absheron gas field, initially discovered in the 1960s by Azerbaijani geologists, is estimated to contain 350 billion cubic meters of gas.

TotalEnergies and SOCAR announced on July 10, 2023 the start of production as part of the first phase of development of the Absheron field. The production is carried out as part of the first stage of extraction from the Absheron field. The gas is intended for the domestic market of Azerbaijan.
